My Lazy Days, and a Giveaway Roundup

I have not ran since the 5k on Saturday the 28th. I feel bad saying that out loud even though it's true. It makes me feel like I'm actually saying "I have been a loser piece of crap since then." This is far from true, and I can say that I've been working my ass off since then, just not in a fitness-directed sort of way.....
Sunday and Monday I spent time at my bff's house, cleaning off the deck and getting the pool ready to open for the season...I moved furniture, cleaned out bins to store stuff in, got the pool hooked up correctly, sprayed down the deck, trimmed trees, scooped leaves, killed wasps and ants, and drank lots of beer in the process. We also grilled out 3 times over the two days (burgers twice, steaks and veggies once, amazing all 3 times!!) The pool is not completely ready to be swam in yet, but we got 1/2 to 2/3 of the leaves out, shocked the heck out of the water, and put in the chlorine tabs. The rest is just continuing to scoop leaves and running the pump and filter to keep the water moving--I hope that it will be ready this weekend, since I plan to will definitely swim after the Warrior Dash this Saturday (whether it is ready or not!)
I spent today in a cleaning frenzy--my mom is coming down on Friday to hang out and stay the night, then go watch me get muddied up Saturday morning. Because I'm a huge perfectionist, as well as experiencing mild OCD traits, I cleaned for approx. 5 hours today. Would you believe that I'm not remotely close to being done cleaning??
(Side note, I say OCD traits because of the obsessive cleaning. It's actually not as intense now as it used to be--one year I went through 5 carpet shampooers, blowing them up from overuse--apparently this is not an easy thing to do, though Bissell was very understanding and would send me a refurbished one every time I broke one. I guess that will happen when you shampoo the carpet multiple times per day for months on end--I just kept feeling like it wasn't cleaning enough....And I'd clean when I was anxious or angry, which used to be a lot too.....but I digress....)
I know that my mom will see my house and think it is spotless, but I know that I still have a lot of cleaning to do tomorrow before I go back to work.

Daily Vitamin F is giving away a Running Sucks t-shirt ends 6/3
Running Diva Mom is giving away a HeadSweats hat ends 6/2
OK, I'm feeling lazy now...there are a lot of good giveaways out there, and the best way to find them is to visit Daily Vitamin F for her Total Giveaway Tuesday!

In other news, I decided today to disconnect my Direct TV, since it had not been working right for the past couple of weeks--the company was very nice about it, offered to pay my bill in full and send someone out to the house for free to relocate my satellite dish (they'd already told me last year that eventually the trees around here would get too high and block service, it just took awhile to happen--they told me then that they could not move the dish).....I told them I just wanted it disconnected, no special stuff needed. So I will be using Hulu and possibly NetFlix to get my tv and video fix....
I want to try and run tomorrow before getting into cleaning the pool again, but it's been in the 90's and sweltering, so we'll see how it goes--
So proud of everyone that raced this long weekend!

  1. Girl you totally deserved some time off and it sounds like you had such a great weekend! I am so jealous that you grilled 3 times!! It was freezing in Ut all weekend and I missed grilling over the holiday.

  3. I to have been horribly deficient in my running. I am hoping to get started back this weekend so I can be ready for my first 10k but I am really thinking more about the 5k for my efforts...especially if I have to work on my feet for a long shift that night. It is so hot here I am having MAJOR motivation issues! None of it helps that I moved this weekend....

I am so proud of your 5k!!!!!!

  4. You most definitely have not been lazy! Just another kind of busy! I can't believe that you shampooed your carpets that much. I think I need a little more OCD in my life. In a way, I've kind of given up about some things around the house until the kids leave. Isn't that sad?
